Enriching people’s lives by creating a healthier future in many of the world’s poor and marginalised communities underpins the very essence of the Burnet Institute’s work. Having forged an international reputation for its focus on infectious diseases of global significance such as The ‘Big Three’: HIV, TB and malaria, the Burnet Institute also supports public health programs, especially in maternal and children’s health, in more than 15 countries across Asia, the Pacific and Africa. AWME 2009 is supporting and encouraging cultural diversity through artistic performance, and at the same time supporting Burnet’s medical research and public health programs that will make a difference to so many communities around the world.
